Interested Parties Meeting - Possible Traffic and Safety Solutions on Trinity Place and Allen Street

COLUMBIA, MO (January 18, 2013) - The Columbia Housing Authority is hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, Janaury 22 at the J.W. "Blind" Boone Community Center located at 301 North Providence Road. As part of this meeting, Public Works Traffic Engineering staff will present information on possible traffic and safety improvements for Trinity Place and Allen Street.

Modifications being considered are:

Modifying Trinity Place to a two-way street from Switzler Street to Pendleton Street. Trinity Place will remain a one-way street from Switzler Street to Park Avenue.

Installation of two raised "speed humps" and a new crosswalk on Trinity Place.

Possible modification of Allen Street to a two-way street between LaSalle Place and Trinity Place.

The meeting will be an open forum drop-in style format.  There will be maps of the possible changes to review and Columbia Housing Authority and Public Works Engineering staff will be available to answer questions.  This meeting is to gather information from the public.  Many of the changes may require City Council action or authorization.  In the coming weeks, City staff plans to send a report to Council regarding the possible modifications depending on feedback received.

Parking is available along Park Avenue or in the Boone Drive parking area. The entrance to the building is on the northwest side of the building (off of Boone Drive).

A diagram of the possible traffic and safety measures are attached.
