"Remembering Our Fallen" Photo Exhibit Coming to Columbia

COLUMBIA, MO (January 24, 2013) -

The "Remembering Our Fallen" photo exhibit is a stark reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by over 140 Missourians killed in The War on Terror while wearing our country's uniform in a war zone. The photo display, which includes photos of each of Missouri's Fallen, is traveling throughout Missouri and coming to Columbia on January 29th. Veterans United Home Loans is sponsoring the exhibit, which will be on display at Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, 1005 West Worley.

"Remembering Our Fallen" is free and open to the public beginning January 29th through February 8th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. The public is invited to the opening ceremony on Tuesday, January 29th at 8:30 a.m. at Public Health and Human Services. The Columbia Fire Department's Honor Guard will take part in the ceremony when Mayor Pro Tem Barbara Hoppe formally opens the exhibit, which honors six heroes from Columbia, including: 1LT William A. Edens, SPC Jason D. Fingar, SPC Steven J. Fitzmorris, SGT Melvin Y. Mora, SFC Charles M. Sadell and SPC Sterling W. Wyatt.

The exhibit was created by Bill and Evonne Williams of Patriotic Productions in Omaha, NE and is sponsored by Bellevue University. The American Legion of Missouri and the VFW of Missouri have both endorsed the project, which was unveiled in July 2011 at the State Capitol Rotunda in Jefferson City. The families of Missouri's Fallen were some of the first to see the display.

"We can never forget those who sacrificed everything for our freedom. We must remember these American Heroes and speak their names when we see their family members," said Colonel James Biernesser (Ret.) USAF and Director of Military Programs for Bellevue University. "This exhibit is created in such a way so it can travel easily throughout Missouri, so that more people will have the opportunity to honor and remember Missouri's fallen."
