Gov Nixon to Speak at Greenbriar Trail Connector Dedication
COLUMBIA, MO (June 25, 2013) - Governor Jay Nixon will be the featured speaker at the City of Columbia’s dedication of the new Greenbriar Trail connector at 6:30 p.m. on June 26. The event will also feature Gov. Nixon launching the “Governor’s 100 Missouri Miles” initiative in Columbia.
The Greenbriar Trail connector is a half-mile paved trail near the Mizzou Tennis Complex. It links 1,500 residences in the Green Meadows area to the MU Recreation Trail and the MKT Trail, providing great connectivity to the MU campus and the downtown area.
Those attending the event on Wednesday are encouraged to walk or bicycle if they are able, or parking is available at Mizzou’s Reactor parking lot at Mick Deaver Drive and Providence. Shuttles will be available.
The Greenbriar Trail was funded through the Federal Highway Administration’s Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program. The Greenbriar Trail connector represents a collaboration of Columbia Parks and Recreation, GetAbout Columbia, Columbia Public Works, the University of Missouri, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program.
For more information, please contact Parks and Recreation at 874-7460.
