Rain Barrel Sales Begin Today - Columbia Public Works Stormwater Education

COLUMBIA, MO (April 16, 2014) - With spring showers popping up, capture the rain water coming off of your roof and put it work on your flowers and garden plants with an IVY rain barrel.

The City of Columbia Public Works Department Stormwater Utility is again partnering with Rain Water Solutions to provide our customers with the opportunity to purchase a complete rain barrel kit at a greatly reduced price.

The kit, made in America and out of 50% recycled materials, includes a 50 gallon rain barrel, a pre-plumbed quarter turn spicket to attach your garden hose, and overflow tubing. A diverter kit is not required for installation and you can connect multiple rain barrels together to increase storage.

The cost of the kit is $69 (normally $129). You can see the product displayed at the following locations:


*City Hall, 701 East Broadway, main lobby

*Boone County Government Center, 801 East Walnut, main lobby

*Makes Scents at 19 South 9th Street in their display window

All orders must be placed via the website and orders will be accepted until Thursday, May 29. Late orders can not be accepted due to logistics. You do not have to be a resident of Columbia/Boone County to order.

Kits will be available for pick-up on Friday, June 6. Those who order will be notified via email of the exact pickup location and times. All kits must be picked up at the event on June 6.
