Injury Accident Temporarily Closes Westbound I70

COLUMBIA, MO (April 22, 2014) - Units from the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to an injury accident on I70 westbound at the 128 mile marker at 09:08am on Tuesday April 22, 2014.

Crews arrived on the scene minutes later and observed three vehicles involved in the accident blocking the westbound lanes.

Columbia Fire Department personnel worked quickly to evaluate the  condition of passengers in all three vehicles.  It was determined that one male passenger had life threatening injuries.  Fire personnel stabilized the patient and assisted transfering him to an ambulance.  He was transported to University Hospital.  Both passengers in the other two vehicles refused medical treatment.

The westbound lanes of I70 were closed for approximately thirty minutes at this location while crews worked the accident.
