Update - Homicide On West Texas Avenue

COLUMBIA, MO (April 23, 2014) -                      UPDATE – HOMICIDE ON WEST TEXAS AVENUE


The deceased male inside the residence at 920 West Texas Avenue has 
been identified as Derrick Brookins, age 44, of Columbia. His next of kin 
has been notified.


Officers received information of a second subject with a gunshot wound 
who was taken by personal vehicle to a local hospital shortly after the 
shots fired on West Texas Avenue and he has been identified as Darrius 
Edwards, age 22, of Columbia. Edwards injures are not considered to be 
life-threatening.


We are still investigating the circumstances involved in this homicide 
investigation. Information will be released once it becomes available.

Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (573)875-TIPS to 
remain anonymous.
