The City of Columbia requests public comments on the first module of the Columbia Development Code Update
COLUMBIA, MO (August 8, 2014) - The City of Columbia Community Development Department is requesting comments on the public draft of the first part of a new Unified Development Code, entitled "Module One: Zone Districts and Permitted Uses." Comments will be accepted until Monday, September 15, 2014. All comments will be provided to the City's consultant, Clarion Associates of Denver, Colorado.
Clarion has been hired by the City to do a comprehensive rewrite of the City's Zoning and Subdivision Regulations, known as the Development Code Update Project. Clarion is accomplishing the task in three parts called modules. On July 24, 2014, Clarion delivered the public draft of Module 1, and explained their recent work at a public forum on August 5, 2014.
The City of Columbia Development Code Update Module 1 draft and related materials are available at:

All comments will be considered and any changes to the draft will be made when Module 1 (Zone Districts and Uses) is combined with Module 2 (Form and Development Standards) and Module 3 (Procedures and Enforcement) into a complete draft of the proposed code. The public will have an opportunity to comment on each of the three modules as well as the complete draft ordinance. The schedule for the project is as follows:
September 15, 2014: Comments on Module 1 dueOctober 2014: Draft Module 2: Forms and Development Standards available for public review and commentJanuary 2015: Draft Module 3: Procedures and Enforcement available for public review and comment Spring 2015: Complete Draft Code available for reviewSummer 2015: Code "testing" on selected development scenariosFall/Winter 2015: Refinement of code and formal adoption
