Crime Alert

COLUMBIA, MO (August 14, 2014) - CRIME ALERT

 

The Columbia Police Department has seen a significant increase the past month in thefts from unlocked motor vehicles as well as theft of vehicles with the keys left inside.

 

Precautions for citizens:

 

1.)     Take personal belonging out of your vehicle

2.)     Lock your vehicle

3.)     Never leave personal information such as checkbooks, driver’s        license, purses, wallets or credit cards in the vehicle.

4.)     Never leave weapons in the vehicle. 

5.)     Do not leave keys in the vehicle

6.)    And Park in a well lite area or a garage if available

 

If anyone has information about the individuals involved in these cases or observed suspicious activities or vehicles around the time of the thefts, please contact the Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
