Afternoon Fire Damages Home
COLUMBIA, MO (December 13, 2014) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a natural cover fire threatening a home in the 100 block of Foxwood Court on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 1:55pm. Crews arrived less than seven minutes later and observed heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of a large, single family home.
Fire crews deployed a pre-connected hose line and began an aggressive exterior fire attack. Upon reaching the rear of the home crews observed fire had spread to the garage and was moving quickly through the home. Additional pre-connected hose lines were deployed and a second fire attack was conducted through the front of the home.
The event was brought under control in approximately thirty minutes. The fire had spread through the garage, a portion of the living area and into the attic, causing extensive damage.
There was no one home at the time of this fire.
Fire investigators are on the scene conducting an origin and cause investigation. Further details will be released once they become available.
Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department, two units from the Boone County Fire Protection District and two ambulances were dispatched to this event. One fire fighter with the Columbia Fire Department was treated on the scene for minor injuries.
