Recycling Drop Off  Decommissioned - Gerbes on Broadway

COLUMBIA, MO (December 26, 2014) - Effective today, the recycling drop off located at Gerbes on West Broadway, is no longer in service. 

Due to changes with the use of the property, the space used for the collection containers is no longer available.

The City of Columbia would like to thank the property owner, Shelter Insurance, for the many years they supported recycling by allowing the Columbia Public Works Department - Solid Waste Division, to have a recycling drop off point on the property near Gerbes Supermarket.

No alternate site in the same general area has been located for a recycling drop off point as of this release. Public Works Solid Waste Division is examining potential sites in the area to determine if a partnership could be forged with a property owner and tenant.

In the meantime, the City of Columbia encourages customers who use drop off recycling points to use one of the following existing sites -


*Columbia Regional Airport - (cardboard only; no glass or plastic)

*Downtown Columbia - south side of 10th and Cherry Parking Garage

*Patrcia's IGA on Keene Street

*Home Depot on Clark Lane

*Mosers Price Chopper on West Business Loop 70

*State Farm Parkway at Nifong Blvd

*Behind Shurz Hall (University of Missouri Campus) off Ashland Road near College Ave

*Dulany Hall (Columbia College Campus) North 8th Street just north of Rogers

*Pannell Street by the Wrightman Bldg (Columbia College Campus)
