Suspects Arrested For U.S. Cellular Robbery

COLUMBIA, MO (January 23, 2014) -                SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR U.S. CELLULAR ROBBERY


On 1/22/14 at 12:30 P.M., Detectives with the Columbia Police Department Criminal Investigative Division along with detectives with the Jefferson City Police Department arrested Jamaar L. Curtis, age 31, from Hazelwood, Missouri and Antonio L. Banks, age 22, from Jefferson City, Missouri for Robbery in the First Degree, Felonious Restraint, and Armed Criminal Action with a to be set bond.

On 1/20/14 at 6:15 P.M., Jamaar L. Curtis and Antonio L. Banks entered the U.S. Cellular store located at 1301 Grindstone Parkway. Curtis pointed a handgun at the male victim and ordered the victim from the lobby area of the store to the back room. Curtis and Banks stole cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money from the business along with the victim’s cellphone, wallet and cash. 

Curtis attempted to sell twenty of the stolen U.S. Cellular phones to a business in Jefferson City on 1/21/14. Curtis and Banks went back to the Jefferson City business on 1/22/14 to collect money from the stolen cellphones when they were both taken into custody. All of the phones Curtis tried to sell were verified stolen from U.S. Cellular through an inventory list. The Columbia Police Department would like to thank the Jefferson City Police Department for their assistance in helping capture Curtis and Banks so quickly.
