Pavement Preservation Efforts to Continue the Week of July 21
COLUMBIA, MO (July 18, 2014) - Beginning on Monday, July 21, Columbia Public Works - Street Division will continue annual pavement preservation maintenance on several Columbia roads. This maintenance consists of sealing existing road surfaces to prolong the life of our roadways. On these particular streets, they type of pavement preservation maintenance to be performed is referred to as "chip seal".
Roadways which will be affected by chip seal pavement preservation the week of July 7, weather permitting, are:
Mon - July 21
Charles St from Business Loop 70 East to the northend of the street
Tue/Wed July 22/23
Arapahoe Cir from Aztec Blvd to the northend of the street
Fay St from Business Loop 70 East to Lakeview Av
Lakeview Ave from Fir Pl to Edison St
Edison St from Business Loop 70 East to Lakeview Ave
Northland Dr from Parker St to Blueridge Rd
Lance Dr from Blueridge Rd to Skylane Dr
Woodside Dr from Southridge Dr to Wayside Dr
Wayside Dr from Northridge Dr to Woodside Dr
Starke Ln from Brown Station Rd to the city limits
Wed July 23
Wolf Trail from Maple Leaf Dr to end of the street
Wildrose Place from Maple Leaf Dr to the cul-de-sac
We understand that fresh asphalt, loose gravel, and lane closures are a hassle. However, as you navigate through work zones, please bear in mind that these workers are doing the very important job of repairing or prolonging the life of our streets, which we all rely on to safely get where we need to go. In addition, pavement preservation treatments require less time and less traffic disruption than the expensive reconstruction projects being avoided or delayed.
Finally, remember that road crews consist of Dads, Moms, Sons, Daughters, Brothers and Sisters, who make roadways their office. Be patient, drive slowly, watch for workers in and around roadways, and take alternate routes around construction areas when possible. We thank you for understanding!
