Eat Local Month Kickoff Event

COLUMBIA, MO (June 5, 2014) - WHO:   Sustainable Farms & Communities, Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services, and more!

 

WHAT:  Eat Local Month Kickoff Event

 

WHERE: Columbia Farmers Market, 1701 W. Ash Street, Columbia, MO

 

WHEN: Saturday, June 7th, 9 a.m.

 

WHY:  The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services, in conjunction with many other local organizations, celebrates the proclamation of June as “Eat Local Month” by Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid and the Boone County Commission.  The organizers of this month-long series of events are calling on residents to participate in a “local vore” challenge.   A “local vore” is a person who makes a concerted effort to consume food products produced within a fifty mile radius of their home.
