Fatality Traffic Crash Highway 63 Northbound just North of Vandiver Drive

COLUMBIA, MO (March 11, 2014) - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatality Traffic Crash 
CASE#: 2014046055/2014-002621 
DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 03/11/14 @ 00:20 
DATE & TIME REPORTED: Same 
ACCIDENT LOCATION: Highway 63 N /B just north of Vandiver Dr (2400 blk Hwy 63 
N N/B) 
 
DRIVER #1: Vaughan, Chasity D Age: 35 
 Columbia, Mo Injured: Fatal 
 Seat Belt: Yes 
 
DRIVER #2: Brenneman, John M Age: 38 
 Columbia, Mo Injured:Fatal 
 Seat Belt: Yes 
 
DETAILS OF INCIDENT: 
 
Crash occurred when vehicle #1, a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder, was traveling south in the 
northbound lanes of Highway 63 just north of Vandiver and vehicle #2, a 1994 Dodge 
Caravan, was traveling north in the northbound lanes of Highway 63 just north of 
Vandiver. Driver #2 was unable to avoid vehicle #1 and struck vehicle #1 head-on. 
 
Both driver #1 (Vaughan) and driver #2 (Brenneman) were pronounced dead at the scene 
by medical personnel. 
 
At this time it is unknown if impairment due to alcohol/drugs was a contributing factor. 
Results will be pending a toxicology/autopsy exam of both drivers by the Boone County 
Medical Examiner’s Office. Excessive speed by either driver is not a contributing factor.
