Columbia Police Department Releases Results Of Alcohol Enforcement
COLUMBIA, MO (March 17, 2014) - COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASES RESULTS OF ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT
(Columbia, MO) – During the enhanced weekend enforcement of March 14-17, 2014, the Columbia Police Department took part in a statewide impaired driving crackdown. Throughout the weekend, Columbia Police Officers with the assistance of The Boone County Sheriff’s Department worked overtime focusing their efforts on removing intoxicated drivers from our roadways. During the enforcement period, the Columbia Police Department arrested 11 intoxicated drivers.
On the night of Friday, March 14, 2014 the Columbia Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint at Locust and Waugh. The checkpoint began at 10:00 P.M. and concluded at midnight. During the checkpoint, 171 motorists were contacted. The following arrests were made:
2 Driving While Intoxicated
1 Summons for drug paraphernalia
1 summons for No Operator’s License
On the night of Saturday, March 15, 2014 the Columbia Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint at Locust and Fourth Street. The checkpoint began at 12:05 A.M. and concluded at 2:50 A.M. During the checkpoint, 101 vehicles were contacted. The following arrests were made:
9 Driving While Intoxicated
2 Driving while suspended/revoked
1 resisting arrest
This enforcement period was very successful in removing many unsafe drivers from our roadways. This check point was funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation-Traffic & Highway Safety Division.
The Columbia Police Department wishes to thank those motorists who encountered the check point for their patience and cooperation during our efforts to make Columbia’s roadways safer for us all.
