Water line project on Wayne Road

COLUMBIA, MO (March 26, 2014) - On Friday, March 28 at 7:00 am, Columbia Water & Light will be installing a new water main on Wayne Road, between Providence Road and Ridgeley. Wayne Road will not be closed but it will cause traffic to be hampered at times. Motorists are urged to be cautious when traveling in the area. The construction of the new water line should be completed by the contractor S.P.E., Inc. before 5:00 pm, Friday, April 11, weather permitting.

The new water main will increase the water supply in the Wayne and Bingham Road area for firefighting purposes. The existing water main in the backyards of property in the area will eventually be abandoned. Individual customers will be notified when the new customer service lines are installed after April 11. Once the new water main is in service, the line will be flushed. This might cause customers in the area to notice a slight discoloration of their water. Customers that experience this problem should let the water run for a few minutes until the discoloration disappears.
