Flower pot recycling day is this Saturday

COLUMBIA, MO (May 7, 2014) - The City of Columbia Volunteer Programs is hosting a flower pot recycling day from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at 1313 Lakeview Ave. Residents may drop off plastic gardening pots, trays and planters to be recycled. These previously used pots will be manufactured into landscape timbers, planks and fence posts.  

There is still time for residents to get involved by volunteering. Volunteers will direct traffic and collect and sort pots. Those interested in participating can contact Volunteer Programs at 874-6271 or pw-volunteer at gocolumbiamo.com.

This event is held in partnership with Gary Ryan of Fulton, Mo. All pots collected will be used by Ryan Enterprise, where they will be manufactured into useful products.
