Overnight Search Of Suspicious Person Ended After Four Hours Without An Arrest
COLUMBIA, MO (May 10, 2014) - OVERNIGHT SEARCH OF SUSPICIOUS PERSON ENDED AFTER FOUR HOURS WITHOUT AN ARREST
On 5/9/14 at 7:49 P.M., officers were dispatched to a suspicious person in the 3100 block of Rock Quarry Road. Officers went to contact the white male subject wearing a black shirt and khaki pants and he took off running into the woods Northeast of Rock Quarry Road.
Officers were in a foot pursuit with the subject in the wooded area. Commanders on the scene requested a canine unit at 8:02 P.M. and the Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter to assist in the search of the subject in the wooded area due to darkness. Officers on scene set up a perimeter in all four directions from the wooded area.
A meticulous search was performed of the large wooded area for four hours. The large scale search was called off at 11:57 P.M. The subject was not located in the search. However officers stayed in the area looking for the subject or any suspicious activities throughout the night. Officers will continue today to search for the subject.
The Columbia Police Department wants to thank the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the University of Missouri Police Department for their assistance in trying to locate the subject possibly involved in the burglaries/sexual offenses recently in the 3100 block of East Stadium Boulevard, 4100 block of Lenoir and the 2200 block of Grindstone Parkway as well as the offenses in East Campus/Downtown Area in 2013.

3.) Walk in well-lit areas on primary paths
4.) Walk in pairs when possible
