Columbia Fire Department Responds to Extrication Accident

COLUMBIA, MO (May 15, 2014) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to an extrication accident at Route B and Oakland Church Road on Thursday May 15, 2014 at 6:42am.  Units arrived less than three minutes later and found one vehicle upright in the roadway and one vehicle off the roadway.

Fire crews quickly assessed the scene and began extrication of the drivers of both vehicles. 

One of the drivers involved was transported to University Hospital with life threatening injuries. The occupant of the other vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Columbia Fire Department has no further information regarding this accident at this time.  The Missouri State Highway Patrol is performing an accident investigation. 

The Columbia Fire Department reminds citizens to wear a seat belt when operating or riding in a motor vehicle.
