Air Service Revenue Guarantee fund untapped for 14th straight months

COLUMBIA, MO (May 16, 2014) - The City of Columbia is pleased to announced that the Air Service Revenue Guarantee fund was invoiced zero dollars for April 2014. This is the fourteenth consecutive month in the past fifteen months in which American Airlines did not require a payment from the Air Service Revenue Guarantee fund. The Air Service Revenue Guarantee fund has paid a total of $22,562 dollars to American in 2013 after the first two weeks of service and has not been tapped since.

Passenger load factors remain high and pre-bookings on future flights continue to perform very well. As of April 30, passenger enplanements at COU in 2014 totaled 14,785 and deplanements total 15,083. Both represent passenger loads slightly above 82%.


In addition to American Airlines sucess, both rental car companies at Columbia Regional Airport, Hertz and Enterprise, have seen a 65% increase in car rental revenues in the first quarter of 2014. 

As a non-scientific indicator of the health of the airport, the main parking lot, and overflow parking lot number 1 are each close to and on some days at capacity. Some patrons are now using the new overflow lot on the west side of Airport Drive. 


We thank our customers who fly from COU for their support of Columbia Regional Airport and American Airlines.

American Airlines began service from COU on February 14, 2013 and provides two daily nonstop flights to both Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago O'Hare from Columbia Regional Airport.

The Air Service Revenue Guarantee fund consists of monies from numerous private businesses in Columbia and mid-Missouri as well as funds from various government entities in mid-Missouri.
