**2014 Fire Prevention Week Kicks Off October 5th**

COLUMBIA, MO (October 2, 2014) - The Columbia Fire Department and Columbia Professional Fire Fighters will kick off Fire Prevention Week 2014 at the Columbia Mall on Sunday, October 5 from 11:00am - 2:00pm in the parking lot by the Sears / Dillards wing.

Members of the Columbia Fire Department, Columbia Police Department, Community Emergency Response Team, Red Cross and Safe Kids Coalition will be on-hand.  101.5, KPLA will be broadcasting live.  Festivities include:


*Free barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs while supplies last

*Columbia Fire Department's Patches and Pumper

*Columbia Police Department's McGruff the Crime Dog

*Fire truck bounce house and childrens games

*Face painting

*Free smoke detectors while supplies last

*Fire truck tours

*Live fire sprinkler demonstration at 12noon
