PSJC Again Recognized for Accreditation from International Organization

COLUMBIA, MO (October 16, 2014) - The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) has announced that Boone County Public Safety Joint Communications has received accreditation in Emergency Medical Dispatch. The announcement comes after PSJC was awarded accreditation for Emergency Fire Dispatch earlier this year.

"We are very proud of our telecommunicators for achieving this honor, which has only been achieved by a handful of dispatch agencies around the world," said PSJC Operations Manager Brian Maydwell. "Our personnel have worked hard to earn accreditation from IAED not just once, but twice this year. It reinforces a fact that we already know, that Boone County has some of the best Emergency Telecommunicators  in the world."

The IAED accreditation is based on the implementation and compliance with the Medical Priority Dispatch System's "20 Points of Excellence", which include certification for all 9-1-1 emergency telecommunicators and proper system oversight.

IAED officials will present Joint Communications with plaques recognizing the Medical Accreditation, during the Boone County Commission meeting on Tuesday, October 21, at 9:30 a.m.

The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch is a non-profit, standard-setting organization promoting safe and effective emergency dispatch services worldwide and comprised of four allied academies for medical, fire, and police dispatching and emergency communication nurses.
