Columbia Police Cracking Down On Impaired Drivers September 19 - September 21, 2014

COLUMBIA, MO (September 18, 2014) - COLUMBIA POLICE CRACKING DOWN ON IMPAIRED DRIVERS SEPTEMBER 19 – SEPTEMBER 21

 

In 2013, 757 people were killed in Missouri traffic crashes. The sobering fact is that substance impaired driving contributes to nearly 30 percent of all Missouri traffic fatalities.  This is why; The Columbia Police Department will be stepping up DWI enforcement patrols and a sobriety checkpoint this weekend in an effort to keep impaired drivers off the road.

 

Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of their driver licenses, or being sentenced to use ignition interlocks. Insurance rates go up. Other financial hits include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work, and the potential loss of job or job prospects. When family, friends and co-workers find out, violations can also face tremendous personal embarrassment and humiliation.
