Fall Victim Rescued from Courthouse Dome

COLUMBIA, MO (September 25, 2014) - At 9:08 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 the Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fall victim at the Boone County Courthouse, 705 East Walnut.  Columbia Fire Crews arrived on the scene at approximately 9:11 a.m. to find an injured subject in the dome of the Court House.

The subject was a maintenance worker who was planning on lowering the flag to half-staff.  The worker fell inside the dome.  

Firefighters and University ambulance personnel assessed the patient and then began working to remove the patient from the dome.  Because of the limited access and tight conditions the patient was removed using high-angle rescue equipment down the exterior of the building.  The patient was transported by ambulance with non-life threatening injures.

One Engine, one Ladder Truck and the Rescue Squad responded to the incident.
