Columbia City Council will hold Budget Work Session

COLUMBIA, MO (August 19, 2015) -

What:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â  City Council work session on FY 2016 budget

                            Agenda

                            City Manager Overview

                            Financial Overview and Forecasts: General Fund; FY 2014 General Fund savings;

                            transportation departments; parks operations; utility departments; Community

                            Development Block Grant - net zero homes (Housing Trust presentation)

                            Proposed Ballot Issues: Parks and Recreation Sales Tax; temporary 1% Lodging

                            Tax

                            Other items Council may wish to discuss

 

Background:

*City Manager submitted his proposed budget on July 4, 2015

*First public hearing held Monday, Aug. 17 during regular City Council meeting to get citizen comments

*Council will hold public hearings on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and Monday, Sept. 21 during its regular meetings, starting at 7 p.m.  Council could adopt the budget on Sept. 21.

*Budget must be adopted before the end of September, or it stands approved as proposed by the City Manager.

*City fiscal year is October 1 - September 30.
