Notice of Downtown Parking Audit Activities August 27-29 & Call for Volunteers

COLUMBIA, MO (August 21, 2015) - Volunteers and city staff are conducting a parking audit in downtown and near neighborhoods (East Campus and Benton-Stephens) on Thursday, August 27 through Saturday, August 29. Data will be gathered on parking utilization and turnover to better understand parking patterns, opportunities and issues.

Residents may notice staff and volunteers recording parking data and chalk may be used to mark parking spaces and tires. Tire chalk markings will be applied as minimally as possible and will be easily removed.  No parking tickets will be issued as a part of the parking audit activities. Parking enforcement activities by parking utility staff will not be affected.  

The city is still seeking volunteer assistance for shifts on all three days from 3:30-6:00 PM and 8:00-10:30 PM.

Volunteers will meet in the lobby of City Hall, near Council Chambers, at the start of their shifts. Volunteers will be entered into a raffle to win 2 free weekend passes to Roots n Blues n BBQ or a gift certificate to the District.

Volunteer Shifts Available:


*Thursday, August 27th 3:30 pm- 6:00 pm

*Thursday, August 27th 8:00 pm- 10:30 pm

*Friday, August 28th 3:30 pm- 6:00 pm

*Friday, August 28th 8:00 pm- 10:30 pm

*Saturday, August 29th 3:30 pm- 6:00 pm

*Saturday, August 29th 8:00 pm- 10:30 pm


In addition, volunteers will need to attend one of two orientations providing instructions.
