Monthly Outdoor Warning Siren Test Planned for Wednesday

COLUMBIA, MO (August 31, 2015) - The monthly test of outdoor warning sirens will take place on Wednesday, September 2, weather permitting.  The test is conducted by Joint Communications and the Boone County Office of Emergency Management to ensure the city and county’s outdoor warning system is working correctly.  

The sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of each month and used to warn citizens in reference to various hazards, particularly weather-related hazards.  In the event of threatening weather conditions, the test is cancelled.
