Holiday Toy Drive Receives Proclamation

COLUMBIA, MO (December 21, 2015) - Columbia Parks and Recreation last week received a proclamation from Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder in recognition of the Almeta Crayton Memorial Toys for Columbia’s Youth program.

 

Representatives from Kinder’s office visited the Armory Sports Center and presented the proclamation to staff members, which cited their efforts with the annual toy drive.

 

In an e-mail, Kinder’s staff stated they were seeking out worthwhile Toy Drive efforts and felt the Columbia toy drive “exemplified the generosity we are seeing all across Missouri this time of year.”

 

The 2015 toy drive just concluded. About $2,100 and 900 toys were collected, which serves about 300 Columbia children.

 

The Toy Drive is held annually with the support of some area businesses and organizations that place collection boxes at their locations. The toy drive typically is held from mid-October through mid-December.
