Columbia Fire Department Receives NIOSH Report for Lieutenant Bruce Britt

COLUMBIA, MO (February 4, 2015) - The Columbia Fire Department received the fire fighter fatality investigation from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for Lieutenant Bruce Britt yesterday afternoon, February 3, 2015.

NIOSH reports in general speak to a wide audience and provide valuable information from actual emergencies to departments around the country.  Recommendations contained in these reports are not necessarily directed to the department that experienced the event but provide teaching moments for other departments that may find themselves in similar situations.

Over the coming days the Columbia Fire Department will review the report, more specifically the 'Contributing Factors', regarding the incident on February 22, 2014.
