Fire Damages industrial machinery in north Columbia

COLUMBIA, MO (February 21, 2015) - At 8:59 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, the Columbia Fire Department responded to a reported commercial structure fire at 4000 Waco Road. An employee called 911 and reported a piece of machinery was on fire inside the structure.

Columbia Firefighters arrived at 9:06 a.m. to find nothing visible from the exterior of the structure. Firefighters entered the structure and extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes. Crews had to ventilate the thick smoke and carbon monoxide from the structure before Assistant Fire Marshal Kyle Edwards could start the fire cause investigation.

There were no injuries and no damage to the structure itself.  A dollar damage estimate has not yet been determined.

Three engines, a ladder, and a rescue squad responded to the incident.  Crews remained on scene for approximately 2 hours ventilating the structure.
