Curb ramp improvents on several Columbia sidewalks begins soon
COLUMBIA, MO (July 1, 2015) - Beginning Thursday, July 2, Watson Concrete, a contractor for the City of Columbia, will begin repair and improvements to bring sidewalk ramps into ADA compliance on 55 sidewalk ramps along the following roads:
*Green Meadows between Oak Lawn and Bethel
*Bearfield Road between Nifong and Grindstone
*Fairview Road between Chapel Hill and Malibu Ct
*East Broadway between Hitt St and College Ave
The work will begin along the Green Meadows Rd section at 7:00 am on July 2. The projects are scheduled to be completed by late summer or early fall. The work schedule and project completion times are weather dependent.
The improvement projects are funded by the Annual Sidewalk Improvement funds. The estimated cost of the improvements is $132,000.
During the work, temporary lane restrictions and sidewalk closures will be required. Minor delays should be expected.
Motorist and non-motorized transportation users should use caution in the work zones and find alternate routes when available.
