Delayed one day: Texas Avenue from Parklawn to Kathy closed for water project

COLUMBIA, MO (July 7, 2015) - Due to the rain today, this project will take place on Thursday, July 9, weather permitting. 

On Wednesday, July 8 Columbia Water & Light will be connecting a new water line on Texas Avenue to the existing water distribution system. This will require the closing of Texas Avenue between Parklawn Drive and the west side of Kathy Drive. Local traffic will still have access to the street but all other motorists will be detoured around the block on Jackson Street. Customers will be individually notified of any water service disruptions.

 

The water main on Texas Avenue is approaching the end of its useful life and has been experiencing breaks. The existing pipe is being replaced with an 8-inch and twelve-inch water main. The upgraded water line will increase the amount of water that can be delivered to the area for consumers and for firefighting purposes. It will also increase the reliability of water service in the area. The water project is expected to be finished in the fall.
