COLUMBIA, MO (June 13, 2015) - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Serious Injury Accident

DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 06/13/14 @ 2:04 P.M.
ACCIDENT LOCATION: 5300 Block Route B
DRIVER 1: Michael P. Melvin
Centralia, MO
Age: 49
Injured: Serious
Seatbelt use: Unknown
DRIVER 2: Christopher L. Burks
Centralia, MO
Age: 25
Injured: Minor
Seatbelt use: Yes
INCIDENT DETAILS:
Vehicle 1, a white 2007 Nissan Frontier, was traveling northbound on Route B near the 5300 Block. Vehicle 2, a black 2010 Chevy Impala, was traveling southbound on Route B in the 5300 Block. Vehicle 1 crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic and crashed into vehicle 2. Driver of vehicle 1, Melvin, was transported to the hospital by EMS due to serious injuries sustained in the crash. Driver of vehicle 2, Burks, was treated and released on scene for minor injuries. Alcohol and/or drug use is unknown at this time pending further investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
