Fatal Vehicle Crash Overnight

COLUMBIA, MO (May 3, 2015) - TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle Crash

DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 05/03/15 @ 12:28 AM 

ACCIDENT LOCATION: Creasy Springs Rd @ Prairieview Dr

DRIVER:                  Bradley W. Gilman 

                               Fulton, MO 

                               Age: 27 

                               Seatbelt: No 

                               Injury: life-threatening 

 

PASSENGER:             Elizabeth J. Upton

                               Columbia, MO 

                               Age: 18 

                               Seatbelt: Yes 

                               Injury: Fatal



INCIDENT DETAILS:

The crash occurred as vehicle #1, a blue 1999 Chevrolet Camaro, was traveling north on 

Creasy Springs Rd. @ Prairieview Dr. The vehicle collided with the concrete curb on the 

west side of the roadway before sliding sideways off the road and colliding with the ditch. 

The vehicle then was airborne for a short period of time prior to colliding with a utility 

pole, severing it in two. The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its 

top in the tree line off the roadway. The driver was ejected during the crash and was 

transported from the scene by EMS for life-threatening injuries. The driver was not 

wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The passenger was pronounced dead at the 

scene. It is unknown if excessive speed and/or alcohol/drugs are contributing factors at 

this point in the investigation. 

The investigation is ongoing.
