Salute to Veterans Memorial Day Weekend Celebration

COLUMBIA, MO (May 19, 2015) - As the community welcomes residents and visitors for the annual Salute to Veterans Memorial Day Weekend Celebration May 23-24, city officials offer the following advice.  

Parking on-site will be limited to small grassy areas; in the event of rain, these will be unavailable. The parking areas at the airport will be closed to any persons attending the event, and Airport Drive will be monitored to restrict traffic.

Event-goers are encouraged to park in the 5th and Walnut parking garage and utilize shuttles provided by the Salute to Veterans Corporation. The shuttle pickup and drop-off will be located on the west side of the 5th and Walnut parking garage, and parking in this garage will be free for the weekend.

Shuttles will begin transporting from the 5th and Walnut garage and Jefferson City Airport at 8:30 a.m. both days. Shuttles provide a round-trip convenience for $5 per person. Gates open at 9 a.m.; all passengers utilizing the shuttles will be dropped off and picked up at the event gate. Shuttles run continuously both ways until the end of the airshow.

Guests are reminded that there is no general seating provided and they may bring collapsible strollers and folding chairs. No coolers, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, alcohol or weapons will be allowed into the event. For a full list of allowed items and general event information, please visit www.salute.org.
