Intersection of Garth and Parkade closed for water project 

COLUMBIA, MO (November 19, 2015) - On Friday, November 20, from 8:00 a.m. until completion, the intersection of Texas Avenue and Parkade Boulevard will be closed. Columbia Water & Light will be tying in the new water line on Texas Avenue. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area. Traffic will be detoured around the intersection. Eight customers will have disruptions to their water service and will be individually notified.

 

The water main on Texas Avenue was approaching the end of its useful life and had been experiencing breaks. The old pipe is being replaced with an 8-inch and twelve-inch water main. The upgraded water line will increase the amount of water that can be delivered to the area for consumers and for firefighting purposes. It will also increase the reliability of water service in the area.
