Architectural and Social History of Business Loop 70 Bicycle Tour

COLUMBIA, MO (October 15, 2015) - GetAbout Columbia, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation, is hosting a free guided bicycle tour that will highlight the architectural and social history of Columbia’s Business Loop 70.  The 6.5 mile, loop bike ride will be held from 2-4 p.m. on October 18.  Cyclists should meet at the playground in Flat Branch Park, 1400 Locust St.

Trevor Harris, amateur historian and avid cyclist, will lead cyclists on a slow paced, 6.5-mile ride.  Tour highlights will include business and social history information about the original Hwy 40 route dating back to 1926, Arrow Head Motel “tourist camps,” unique architectural details, public art and much more.  The 6.5-mile ride route will include a mix of bike friendly neighborhood streets and bike lanes.  Helmets are required for all participants.  Call 874-7460 or 874-7700 to register.
