ARREST MADE IN EARLY MORNING SHOTS FIRED

COLUMBIA, MO (October 17, 2015) -  

On 10/17/15 at approximately 1:49 A.M. officers were dispatched to the area of Rangeline Street and Business Loop 70 East in reference to shots heard. Officers were flagged down by witnesses while en-route and were provided a suspect vehicle description. Officers located the suspect vehicle near 912 Business Loop 70 East, Club Vogue.

 

Officers conducted a stop with the vehicle and made contact with the two occupants. A search of the vehicle located a firearm under the driver’s seat. The driver, identified as Steven Lee Shelton,  28, of Columbia, is a convicted felon. Officers located shell casings in the area of Rangeline Street and Business Loop 70 East that matched cartridges in the firearm that was located under Shelton’s seat. There were no reported injuries or property damage as a result of the shots fired.

 

Shelton was arrested for Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon with a bond of $4,500.00 and Unlawful for Certain Persons to Possess Concealable Firearm with a bond of $4,500.00. The second subject in the vehicle was released at the scene.

 

 

The Columbia Police Department would like to thank the witnesses in the area for their haste and cooperation with officers that quickly led to apprehending the suspect in this incident.
