Broadway Accessible Parking Project to Begin on Monday, November 2

COLUMBIA, MO (October 30, 2015) - Beginning on Monday, November 2 at 7:00 am, Aplex, Inc., a contractor for the city of Columbia will begin construction work at the following locations along east Broadway in downtown Columbia:


*Northeast corner of East Broadway at 8th St;

*Northwest corner of East Broadway at 10th St;

*The driveway approach on the south side of Broadway between 1106 and 1110 East Broadway


Construction of sidewalk ramps, landings and handrails as needed to comply to ADA standards will be installed in these locations.

Impacts:


*Periodic closures of parking spaces in the construction area;

*Periodic sidewalk restirctions which could affect pedestrian movements


The total investment to infrastructure improvements related to this project is $50,295. Funding sources:


*$40,000 from the Disability Commission budget and $10,295 from the Annual Sidewalk Maintenance budget.


Motorist and non-motorized transportation users are urged to use caution in the work zone and use alternate routes when possible.
