Emergency Lane Restrictions on Walnut West of Providence Rd

COLUMBIA, MO (October 30, 2015) - The Stormwater Utility is investigating a potential collapse of an underground stormwater pipe on East Walnut St between Providence Rd and 2nd Street.

A cavity in the westbound lanes will be covered by steel plates and require lane restrictions until further notice. The left turn lane is closed for eastbound traffic on East Walnut to turn north onto Providence Rd. The turn lane will be used for westbound traffic on Walnut.

The stormwater utility will continue to investigate the extent of the issue and it is likely excavation and repairs will begin on Monday, November 2. Additional information will be released as more information is known. 

Until repairs are made, motorist and non-motorized transportation users should use caution in the barricaded area and find alternate routes when available.
