ROAD CLOSURES DURING MIZZOU HOME FOOTBALL GAMES

COLUMBIA, MO (September 3, 2015) - The Columbia Police Department will be closing a portion of Old Route K at the West Outer Road of Providence during all of the Mizzou home football games. The closure will occur from just south of the Bridge past the drive to the MU tennis courts on Old Rt K to the north drive of Providence Hill Apartments. The plan is to close the road three hours before game time through the duration of the game. The road closure was necessary to stop the illegal parking on a narrow two lane road for the safety of pedestrian traffic. When vehicles park illegally on this road it changes the road from two lanes to one lane making it difficult for emergency vehicles to get through the area. A map of the closed area is attached for reference.

At the start of the fourth quarter of each football game until after game traffic has cleared, westbound traffic on Walnut from Fourth St to Providence will be restricted not allowing any through traffic.  Eastbound traffic will also be restricted on Walnut from Second St to Providence to through traffic.   Northbound and southbound traffic on Providence will still be allowed to turn onto Walnut going east or west.  This is due to the traffic light at this intersection will not be cycling for eastbound and westbound traffic on Walnut after the game.

At the start of the fourth quarter of each football game until after game traffic has cleared, westbound traffic on Ash from Fourth St to Providence will be restricted not allowing any through traffic.  Eastbound traffic on Ash from First St to Providence will also be restricted to through traffic.  Traffic on Providence will still be able to turn onto Ash going east or west.   This restriction is due to the traffic light at this intersection will not be cycling for eastbound and westbound traffic on Ash after the game.
