Columbia water employee to serve on environmental group
COLUMBIA, MO (September 8, 2015) - Over the last 12 years of working at the Columbia Water Treatment Plant, Devear Redden has seen a lot of changes. The demand for water has grown. But keeping up with safe water regulations takes up a lot of time for small Missouri utilities. Redden’s experience led to him to be selected as a board member of the Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference. This is the second term for Redden.
“It is because of volunteers like Devear that the Conference continues to serve all the water and wastewater systems operators around the state. I wish him well as he serves out his term on the Board,” said Floyd Turner, Columbia Water & Light Water Distribution Manager
The annual Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference features training for operators, displays industry related goods and services, and awards. The organization began in 1925. In the beginning years, water supply was the main focus and it worked closely with the Missouri State Board of Health. The organization’s regional sections sponsor training events throughout the year and there is also an annual conference. The training is designed to meet the requirements of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
