Mill and overlay planned for North Providence, Vawter School, Conley roads  Aug. 23-26

COLUMBIA, MO (August 18, 2016) - The Public Works Department announced on Thursday that Capital Paving, a subcontractor for the City of Columbia, plans to improve sections of North Providence Road, Vawter School Road and Conley Road Aug. 23-26, weather permitting.

Crews will mill the roads and then apply an overlay of asphalt. Motorists and nonmotorized transportation users should expect temporary lane closures while milling and overlay is being performed. Flaggers will be on hand to allow through traffic. Traffic is permitted on the road once it is milled, no detours are necessary. Once the street is overlaid, traffic may drive on the asphalt almost immediately.

Capital Paving has agreed to begin operations after the peak hours for work and school traffic, starting at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The work on the section of Conley Road is scheduled to take place at night, from approximately 9 p.m. until noon the next day.

The following is the planned work schedule, subject to change due to weather or other factors:
