Commercial Structure Fire at 1000 Nifong Blvd. Building 5
COLUMBIA, MO (February 17, 2016) - On Wednesday, 02/17/16 at 8:57 a.m. Columbia Fire Crews were dispatched to 1000 W. Nifong Boulevard (Bldg. 5) for a reported commercial structure fire.
Fire Crews arrive at 9:02 a.m. and observed light smoke showing from the eaves of the structure. Fire crews proceeded into the structue and observed water coming from suite 120. They continued their investigation in suite 120 and observed light smoke and an actived sprinkler head. Fire crews turned off the water to the sprinkler system to prevent further water damage. There were no reported injuries during the incident.
A Columbia Fire Marshal was dispatched to the scene to investigate. At this time, we do not have a cause of the fire or estimated damage to the structure.
The fire was brought under control with one sprinkler head. In a residential/commercial setting 84 percent of fires are contained by one sprinkler head. Fire crews remained on the scene to clean up the water in the structure.
