Residential Structure Fire

COLUMBIA, MO (January 16, 2016) - On Saturday, 01/16/16 at 12:51 p.m. Columbia Fire Department crews were dispatched to 1513 Raleigh Drive for a reported residential structure fire. 

Quint 9's crew arrived on the scene at 12:56 p.m. with moderate smoke showing from the front door of the residence.  Fire crews conducted an aggressive fire attack to extinguish the fire.  The whole incident was brought under control within 22 minutes.  The four occupants of the residence were non-harmed and released by the medic crew on the scene.  

A Columbia Fire Marshal was dispatched to the scene to investigate.  We do not have a cause or estimated property loss at this time.  

The Columbia Fire Department wants to remind residents that working smoke alarms do save lives.  Test your smoke alarms at least once a month by pressing the test button.  Replace smoke alarm batteries at least once a year.  Replace smoke alarms every 10 years.  The ensure adequate protection, place smoke alarms in every sleeping room, and in a common area on every floor.
