Public Works crews working overnight on priority routes

COLUMBIA, MO (January 19, 2016) - Snowfall is expected to continue into the night followed by freezing drizzle until about 2:00 a.m. Accumulations are expected to be between 2-3 inches.

A full Public Works night crew reported at 7:00 p.m. and will work overnight to maintain passable conditions on first and second priority routes. Customers are asked to use cautious winter driving when traveling as widespread slickness will be a concern this evening and tomorrow morning due to possible refreeze or areas that weren't treated. Morning commute may be difficult on minor routes, but rising temperatures through the day Wednesday will help. Temperatures probably won’t be above freezing Wednesday, but some melting may occur especially if the sun appears. 

Parking enforcement agents will be out on priority routes if/when 2 inches of snow accumulates. Customers are asked to move parked vehicles off the roadways along these marked areas. A map of priority routes is available at www.ComoSnow.com, and customers can also sign up for automatic text alerts on the website to be notified when parking restrictions go into effect. Public Works greatly appreciates the cooperation of customers in moving their vehicles as it allows plows to move through areas more efficiently and move quickly to keep up with the ongoing snow.
