Kansas City Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested
COLUMBIA, MO (January 22, 2016) - KANSAS CITY ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED
On 1/21/16 at 9:09 P.M., Street Crimes Detectives were conducting surveillance on Hanover Boulevard. Detectives were in the area attempting to locate Brandon Johnson, who had two active felony warrants for Assault in the First Degree and Felony Possession of Stolen Property.
While on Hanover, detectives observed a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with Oklahoma registration parked in the area. Detectives observed the vehicle leave so they followed the vehicle from Hanover Boulevard to 3500 Clark Lane, Tiger Stop Gas Station. Detectives waited for the occupants to exit the vehicle so they could see if Johnson was inside. Without anyone exiting the vehicle, the vehicle drove around the back of the business and proceeded East on Clark Lane. As detectives followed the vehicle, they observed the driver of the truck driving east on Clark Lane into oncoming traffic, passing vehicles with a solid double line, and accelerating away.
Detectives activated their lights and sirens and observed the truck turn north onto Hanover Boulevard. The driver turned the vehicle’s lights off and drove south on Olympic Boulevard. The vehicle proceeded east on Clark Lane where detectives lost sight of the vehicle. Detectives gave out the information to all officers in the area.
Joint Communications advised Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) located the vehicle at Route Z and Rangeline Road. Detectives made contact with MSHP, who had Byron Anderson in custody, and requested units to assist them in locating Brandon Maurice Johnson who fled on foot from the area.
