Fire Damages Home on Torrey Pines Drive

COLUMBIA, MO (July 1, 2016) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1303 Torrey Pines Drive on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 1:35am.  Fire crews arrived less than five minutes later and observed light smoke coming from the structure.

Fire department personnel performed a rapid assessment and determined there was fire in the attic space above a light in the kitchen.  The fire was quickly extinguished and the event brought under control in approximately five minutes.

Investigator, Assistant Fire Marshal Joel Pauley, estimates damage at approximately $3,000.

Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call.  There were no reported injuries.

The Columbia Fire Department reminds citizens that smoke alarms save lives.  Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area and on every level of the home, including the basement.  Test smoke alarms monthly and replace smoke alarms every ten years.
