Part of Eighth Street scheduled to be one-way traffic for 30 days
COLUMBIA, MO (July 1, 2016) - The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced on Friday that Eighth Street, between Walnut and Broadway, will be restricted to one-way traffic, southbound only, for an estimated maximum of 30 days. Access to the Plaza Parking Garage and alley behind City Hall, as well as the Landmark Bank parking area, will remain open.
“The one-way traffic is necessary to maintain a safe work environment for workers and motorists on this project,” said Capital Improvement Project Supervisor Dave Fennewald.
City workers plan to replace the sidewalk, remove the canopy from the parking garage along Eighth Street, and add tree grates, tree well drainage and new crosswalks at Walnut Street.
This work is being performed as part of the Avenue of the Columns Project.
