**Clarification**Fire Damages Home on Danforth Drive

COLUMBIA, MO (July 2, 2016) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1108 Danforth Drive on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 5:45pm.  Units from the Columbia Fire Department arrived approximately three minutes later and observed smoke coming from the rear of the structure.

Fire crews performed an aggressive fire attack using a pre-connected hose line and quickly brought the situation under control.  Fire reached the attic through a soffit vent.  Fire crews performed overhaul activity in the attic and wall area where the fire appears to have started to ensure the fire was extinguished.

Assistant Fire Marshal Jim Pasley is investigating the origin and cause.  No determinations have been made yet. Additional information will be released via press release when it becomes available.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire.  There were two pets inside that were not harmed.  There were no reported injuries.

Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call.

The Columbia Fire Department reminds citizens that smoke alarms save lives.  Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate living area and on every level of the home including the basement.  Test smoke alarms monthly and replace smoke alarms every ten years.
